Arrest me please!

Jul 20, 2010

If I were to happen to fall on the wrong side of the law, which subsequently led to me being arrested, I would have to insist that the arresting officer restrained me using a pair of these…The hand cuffs are 24 carat gold plated. Fit for a Bloggess in my opinion.  Of course hand cuffs aren’t just a tool of the legal and criminal justice system, they have other uses too.  What item would you like to see gold plated???

Spain Strikes Gold!

Jul 13, 2010

The World Cup 2010 has finally come to an end. After the sweat, the blood (dramatic) and tears (my tears – I was devastated when Ghana was cheated out of the semi-finals by Uruguay!). The replica 18ct gold plated FIFA World Cup 2010 Trophy was handed over to Spain for the first time in World Cup history! The original trophy was made from 18-carat gold, weighed just over 6 kilos and would be worth in the region of £98,182 if sold at full “melt” value. Winners only get to keep a gold-plated replica. The previous trophy was stolen from the offices of the Brazilian FA in Rio de Janeiro – it has never been recovered and may well have been melted down for the 1.8 kilos of gold it contained. I would imagine you could get quite a few pairs of gold earrings out of it…

Speaking of earrings these are said to be the most expensive earrings in the world:

These diamond drop earrings were made in 2006 by Harry Winston, the man behind celebrity jewellers House of Winston.  They can be yours for a mere $8.5 million US dollars (£5,700,000).  Slightly out of my price range so I found these gold earrings:

A pair of fine gold tassel revival earrings by Castellani recently fetched $169,000 (£112,000) at auction last month – despite originally being estimated to sell for between $4,000 and $6,000. The earrings have detachable pendants and feature Apollo with his horses over a crescent held high by two flanking angels.  Who knew gold antique earrings would increase in value?

Welcome to the first Goldgenie blog post written by the Bloggess! I write about All Thingz Nice, Gold, Glamorous and Luxurious simply because opulence and pure extravagance excites me.  Allow me to explain what a Bloggess is: “The word Bloggess derives from the words ‘Blog’ and ‘Goddess’. A Bloggess is a Goddess like woman who writes Blogs.”  After much thought and deliberation, I have decided that the word Bloggess should be added to the English dictionary.

Join me on my exciting journey to discover the finest gold and crystal adorned items the world has to offer!  Anyone who knows me, knows about my love of luxury cars. As it happens this month is my birthday month (21 again of course ;0) and although I don’t actually need any more toys, I fancy this one:

It’s a £1,500 Swarovski crystal model of a Mercedes Benz SLS AMG. I want it but some may want the real thing:

This fabulous gold Luxury Crystal SL600 Mercedes Benz was on display at the 2009 Tokyo Auto Salon. It has been studded with a staggering 300,000 Swarovski Crystals.  Never too much!
